Straight to the point. Currently WAI-ARIA (ariahtml) is an addon to XHTML, not fully supported, in draft and waiting to become a recommendation.

My current advice would be to leave it in your code as it assists handicapped users who are working with dynamic applications and will probably become a standard in less than a few short years – hopefully for the sake of the disabled.
